Visitors to the John Penny and Sons stand at Harrogate’s Countryside Live let their taste buds do the talking this weekend. In a blind taste test over 1500 consumers were offered cold cuts of beef topside from John Penny and meat which had been reared using mass production techniques.

Yorkshire made an impression last weekend at the English Winter Fair at the Staffordshire showground – the biggest show in the country where John Penny & Sons purchased the Supreme Beef Champion and runner-up for their customers for Christmas.

Sarah Freeman, features editor of the Yorkshire Post visited John Penny & Sons abattoir and reported her findings today. She said "I like meat a lot. I like broccoli and carrots too, but I've never once flirted with vegetarianism and have no inclination to start now!"
